The former Lille man joined Liverpool in July 2014. It’s been almost five years and Divock Origi hasn’t been able to cement a place for regular football at Liverpool.
Then, almost 19 year old was a fresh prospect out of the Belgian talent conveyor belt, the Genk plant to be exact. His ceiling was high and Liverpool snapped at the chance hoping they got someone similar to Christian Benteke(!), Lukaku, KDB, or dare we say it, Eden Hazard.
Even if all that didn’t come to be, the contract that he signed upon joining expires in the summer of the next year. Imperatively, the question is being asked whether Liverpool will renew.
It seems now that they will offer the Belgian a new contract. His recent performances in training have been praised by Klopp. He is higher in the pecking order than Daniel Sturridge.
Saying so much that he would rather not face Origi as an opponent. That is high praise, or some would say “talk is cheap.” If not so, the contract should be signed soon enough.
