Kalidou Koulibaly pairing with Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool would be one of the best defences in the Premier League, according to Mirror
Former Italian player Carlo Jacomuzzi thinks that the Reds should spend their Champions League prize money on Napoli centre back Koulibaly and create a strong centre-half pairing.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already said the club should “splash the cash” this summer as they will be competing with the top European clubs for the transfer targets in the summer window.
Jacomuzzi says Liverpool should surprise their rivals with a shocking bid for the 28-year-old and the pairing of Koulibaly and van Dijk would cause trouble for the teams in the Premier League.
Talking with an Italian radio about the prospect of a Premier League club signing Koulibaly, Jacomuzzi said. “Liverpool? They’ve won so much from the Champions League, from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibaly’s. It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence.”
Klopp has already said Liverpool has to spend big this summer, but they need to sign quality player’s who can add depth in the Liverpool squad.
Koulibaly already has a four- year contract with Napoli, but with Carlo Ancelotti seeking to make new signings, any concrete offer made by Liverpool for the defender would be hard for them to refuse.
