Tottenham have been linked with several players so far but any transfer have failed to materialize for one reason or the other. Spurs’ transfer plans include purchasing a midfielder to aid in Pochettino’s plans while replacing any stars that depart the club, such as Eriksen and Kieran Trippier.
Spurs linked with Leeds’ Jack Clarke
Leeds United promoted youngster Jack Clarke from their U-18s squad to the first team last season. It would be an understatement to say that the York born boy grabbed the chance with both hands.
The 18 year old accumulated almost 20 of his 22 league appearances from the bench, playing a total of 800 minutes in the Championship. However, his performances under Marcelo Bielsa have impressed scouts from Tottenham enough to make him a reasonable target for Spurs.
A number of other players have a strong chance of a Tottenham transfer
Tanguy Ndombele The Spurs linked central midfielder has been in fine form for French side Lyon and Tottenham want to seal a deal for him as soon as possible. The only problem? Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and his exorbitant demand.
Giovani Lo Celso
He is the number one target for the number 10 position in the squad. Targeted by Tottenham to replace Christian Eriksen once the Dane finds a new home. His chances of moving to Spurs are also very high. What’s holding it up? Transfer Fees. Lo Celso will set Spurs back by a good £70 million. Perhaps more expensive than even Ndombele.
Silly season is in full flow and nothing makes it more clear than Tottenham being linked with the Crystal Palace. The reason Tottenham will not move for him is his homegrown status, making him expensive beyond his abilities as a player.
Aston Villa secured promotion under Dean Smith and Jack Grealish, as is the norm was a star for them. If Tottenham really wanted a young, English player it would be Grealish and not Zaha.
Villa’s promotion to the top tier makes it unlikely that Tottenham will be able to pry him out of Dean Smith’s hands.
