RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff asserted that Timo Werner maybe heading to Liverpool this summer as there are no certainties for a deal with Bayern Munich.
Werner has been linked with a move to Liverpool this season, but Bayern was expected to be in the front after the striker turned down to extend his contract further, which expires next year.
The 23-year-old has 16 Bundesliga goals to his name this campaign and is looking to quit the Red Bull Arena.
‘The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension,’ Mintzlaff told Sky, as reported by The Echo. ‘But that could change.
‘I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.
‘Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join (Thomas) Tuchel in Paris, (Jurgen) Klopp at Liverpool or (Lucien) Favre at Dortmund.’
Werner played in Saturday’s fixture against the Bavarian giants which ended in a goalless draw.
Leverkusen’s young striker holds the record for being the youngest player to surpass 100 Bundesliga games and has nine goals in 24 appearances for Germany since making his debut in 2017.
The same year he also won the Golden Boot (three goals) as Germany lifted the Confederations Cup.
