Lille club president Gerard Lopez has revealed that Liverpool is holding talks with Nicolas Pepe over a move in this summer transfer window.
The Ivorian international has scored 19 goals and chipped in with 11 assists in 33 Ligue one games for the club last season.
Liverpool is keen on Nicolas Pepe as he has been in superb form in the Ligue one last season and his performance helped Lille to a second place finish.
The 24-year-old winger is currently on international duty for Ivory Coast in the ongoing African Cup of Nations
However, Lille club president Gerard Lopez claims that Liverpool has been in continuous talks with Pepe’s agent over a move.
Lopez told rmcsport: “I know there have been discussions with the player but not with us as a club, Liverpool has players in his position, and I read that he could go there if players leave. I am not particularly focused on Liverpool. But it is true that there have been discussions with agents.
“The agents, with whom we have good relations, have asked us a little time to look at other options. It is not Lille who discusses alone. The player has, of course, the right to have preferences.
Ivory Costa and Nicolas Pepe will play Mali on Monday in the last -16 as they look to win the tournament.
