Liverpool are on the verge of becoming the European Champions. However, one trophy that the Liverpool fans have been waiting for with bated breath is the Premier League.
Liverpool got to 97 points this season and still couldn’t beat Pep Guardiola’s Man City. The game at Anfield against Wolves was an emotional affair for many fans as they hoped to see the trophy return to Anfield after so many years. Yet it wasn’t to be but most people supporting Liverpool are optimistic of winning the trophy in the near future, like next season.
One such hopeful is Liverpool chairman and part owner Tom Werner. The American tycoon is a partner in the Fenway Sports Group, which is in turn the parent of both the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football club. After the title hopes were dashed on the last day of the season, he seemed bullish on our future.
The reporters asked him about his disappointment as Liverpool lost the title to Manchester City after a historic title race and these are the words of the American:
“We obviously didn’t win the league but we’ll be back next year and we’ve got a lot of motivation to win the league next year. I’m excited.”
“It has been a magical season. Obviously we’re disappointed that we didn’t win the league but it was a remarkable season and the squad is exciting.

Werner is a partner with the main owner John Henry and as such knows the things the club plans to do in the summer before hand. He even quoted Jurgen Klopp to thank the fans and appreciate the wonderful support they have given the team all season. He believes the club will have a better result when they meet Tottenham in Madrid.
