Liverpool is reportedly considering a move for Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to replace the outgoing Simon Mignolet.
Simon Mignolet is expected to leave the Anfield this summer after making only one appearance in the FA Cup and the League Cup last season.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old McCarthy has emerged as the number one target to replace Mignolet.
McCarthy joined Southampton in 2016 and his current contract runs with the club until 2022.
The England international is most likely to be available if Liverpool makes a good enough offer. according to the Mirror.
Since arriving from Crystal Palace at Southampton in 2016, McCarthy has made just 48 appearances across all competitions and managed only four clean sheets.
The chances of getting better wages and also being a part of the Champions League winning team could tempt him to make a move to the Anfield.
McCarthy developed his skills at the Red’s youth academy and gained a lot of experience while playing with clubs like Leeds United and Ipswich Town.
It shouldn’t be a busy summer for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market, with very few players linked with a move to the Anfield.
