Liverpool will be playing against Lyon in a pre-season friendly at the end of July, and the fans think it’s a deal between the two clubs for signing Fekir.
But according to Dominic King, Liverpool has more matches to be played, which will be officially announced very soon.
King wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have three more pre-season friendlies lined up. Potential dates are at Tranmere (July 11), Bradford (July 14) and a game against Lyon in Geneva on July 31 after the tour to the US is over.”
Last year Jurgen Klopp’s side played nine warm-up games before the start of the season and enjoyed their best start in the Premier League’s top-flight, with their tally of 39 points from 15 games played which is the best in their 126-year of history.
Liverpool’s fixture against Lyon has indicated that the club has got a transfer deal with the League 1 which may be announced soon.
Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter as they think that the friendly fixture against Switzerland the next month will be a part of the deal for Fekir.
“Hmmm, Lyon, interesting,” one said in response to King’s tweet.
One more said: “Ooh Lyon friendly.”
Another wrote: “Lyon Match is part of the Fekir deal when he signs this summer, which was part of the negotiations last year.”
“Game against Lyon? Something to grease the palms maybe…” one suggested.
Another said: “Ah, so we’re gonna take their best player (Fekir) then play against them?! Sounds like a plan. Would be a devastating blow to them.”
On a similar note, one more fan posted: “Fekir to play the first half for Lyon and then we announce his signing, and he plays second half for Liverpool?!”
Another fan felt it may be another Lyon player on the agenda, however. They wrote: “Memphis Depay??????”
Asked about the failed Fekir deal last July, Klopp said: “If nothing happens with our boys, we press on.
“If something happens, you always have to make sure you react. If not now, then maybe next window or next summer.”
It will be interesting to see if Klopp is able to sign Nabil Fekir this summer who can offer attacking options with Mane, Mo Salah and Fiurminho in the lineup.
