Liverpool has reportedly joined the race to sign Napoli’s Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in this summer transfer window, according to anfieldindex
The 27-year-old joined the Serie A side for a fee just under €8 million in the summer of 2014. Since then he has developed as one of the best central defenders in the Italian league over the last five years.
Reports also suggest that Koulibaly is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs of Europe with the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester City and PSG, all willing to make a bid for the player.
However, the Italian publication Il Mattino claims that Liverpool is already in contact with Napoli for a possible deal for the defender, and closely monitoring Koulibaly’s performance.
On the other side, if Lovren leaves this summer with a rumoured interest from AC Milan – then Klopp may have to look out for another defender and Koulibaly would be an ideal fit for the position.
