Liverpool look to Juventus winger as backup to Takumi Minamino

According to the reports in Italy, Liverpool are interested in Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi.

The 25-year-old forward is reportedly out of favour in the Maurizio Sarri’s regime at Juventus and hasn’t played a full 90 minutes of football for the Old Lady since October.

The Italian might have started in 11 matches in all competitions under Sarri, but it is not a big secret that the Italian gaffer prefers the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala over him. Things went bad to worse when Juve lost to Lazio earlier this month and Sarri accused Bernardeschi of “drifting”.

It’s no surprise that the Italian outlets like Calciomercato are now reporting that Juventus could be interested in offloading Bernardeschi during the January transfer window, provided they get a good offer from Liverpool.

Whether or not that offer will be forthcoming is debatable, especially with the news that Takumi Minamino will become a Liverpool player on January 1 if all goes to plan with his medical on Wednesday.

It is to be noted that Liverpool have already secured the services of Japanese forward Takumi Minamino for just £7.25m, and he is soon going to have his medicals at the Anfield.

Liverpool would be interested in placing any bids Federico Bernardeschi only if something goes wrong during the medicals, which is highly unlikely. Liverpool are keeping an eye on the Juventus winger nevertheless.
