The transfer gossips are hotting up as the January transfer window draws closer. Liverpool are said to be pursuing Federico Chiesa once again, and we think he would be a perfect signing for the Reds.
22-year-old Chiesa currently plays for Fiorentina. Though predominantly a right-winger, he has played in multiple positions for the Italian side and has played mostly as a striker.
His stats might not give a true picture of his abilities though, just like Roberto Firmino’s stats would give a clue why we lobe him so much.
Chiesa has scored two goals and garnered three assists in his fourteen appearances in the Italian top flight this season. His biggest strength is his dribbling ability. Given his talent, with better players to support him at Liverpool, expect these stats to improve considerably.
La Nazione have reported that Liverpool have joined the race for Federico Chiesa, with Juventus and Inter Milan also tracking the winger. Back in July, Teamtalk reported that any move for the Fiorentina man would cost in excess of €80m.
Liverpool signing Federico Chiesa could be a smarter move than signing Jadon Sancho. The Italian hasn’t been shrouded in the same disciplinary issues that Sancho has. A move for Chiesa would also likely cost a lot less than a move for Sancho.
With figures well over £100m being mooted for Sancho, a deal worth less than £80m for Chiesa seems to make a lot more sense. The argument for shopping in Italy is not just financial, Chiesa also offers a lot more versatility due to his ability to play anywhere across the forward line.
