Liverpool has shown interest in Zenit St. Petersburg’s forward Sardar Azmoun in this summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old had chipped in with 14 goals in 17 league matches for the club in the last season.
Russian outlet, Soviet Sport revealed that Liverpool scouts were in attendance to see Sardar Azmoun in action for the Zenit St. Petersburg game against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Despite, Azmoun scored two goals at either side of the half, Zenit lost the match by a margin of 3-2.
These reports also suggest that Liverpool scouts have been very much impressed with Azmoun’s performance.
The Liverpool boss would like to add Azmoun as an additional striker in the squad as Daniel Sturridge has already departed the Anfield, while Origi’s future is still uncertain.
Azmoun has scored 23 goals for the Iranian national team in 31 appearances in the FIFA World Cup and is being considered as one of the best Iranian players till date.
He can head the ball perfectly, has the ability to control the ball in close range and is also a great finisher in front of the goal.
Meanwhile, Azmoun has been linked with clubs like AC Milan and Lazio, so Liverpool will have to act quickly if they want to complete the transfer.
