Ben Winterbottom, who was born in Preston and playing for Blackburn Rovers’ U18 team has been officially transferred to Liverpool. The 17 year old, born in 2001 is now part of the Liverpool youth setup.

It is believed the transfer was forced due to the U18 being short in numbers at the GK position. Vitezslav Jaros, the incumbent shotstopper for the youth team suffered an injury last month and the club was short on cover.

He was on trial with the club for a few days now, and satisfied with his abilities, the club finalised the transfer.

“Ben was available and with the injuries we’ve got, it’s about making sure we have enough cover,” Lewtas told the ECHO.
“He’s a good boy and has settled in really well. He’s a positive character around the dressing room.
“He has trained well and will prove to be a good addition to the squad.”
