Liverpool will not have the services of star number 9 Roberto Firmino when they come up against Barcelona. The Brazilian has been ruled out by Klopp from facing Barcelona in the all-important second leg.
Liverpool will host the Catalans at Anfield on Tuesday night and have the tough task of overturning a 3-0 loss.
In ideal circumstances Klopp would want his first choice front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino to be available but one of them is set to miss out. Salah’s fitness will not be clear until much closer to the match, the Egyptian suffering a head injury in the last league game.
Firmino also missed that thrilling game against Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United after making no impact in a half of the semi-final first leg.
After the enthralling match at Saint James’ Park that Liverpool just about edged to stay within touching distance of Man City, Klopp announced the unavailability of his number nine:
“He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest we will see,”
– Jurgen Klopp
The 27 year old was phenomenal last season as Liverpool did everything right until the final of the Champions League. Klopp would have hoped to go one better but at the moment they have the monumental task of overturning the loss to Barcelona.
Now, Firmino is out, Salah is out and so is Naby Keita for the rest of the season. What do you think we could do to win this tie.
