It’s the season of 18 and 19 year olds this transfer season. We have already had a lot (not enough) of Jack Clarke, who might be announced soon. Now, Tottenham are linked with another 18 year old. He’s not English this time- he’s Irish. The man in question is Luca Connell who has his contract with Bolton Wanderers.
Luca Connnell’s similarities with Jack Clarke
Jack Clarke and Luca Connell are both 18 year old youngsters who play in the Championship. Not just that, both the players have had break through seasons in England’s second tier and have attracted the attention of the biggest clubs. While the Leeds man is on the verge of a transfer to Tottenham, Connell has the liberty to decide his own future after his Bolton contract expires on June 30.
English clubs left behind by Luca?
In a photo that’s gone viral like wildfire among fans of English teams, Luca Connell is touring Scotland. It’s not just the scenes he’s been enjoying but also the hospitality of one of the biggest Scottish clubs: Celtic.

This photograph is proof that the player maybe close to agreeing a move to the Scottish champions. If this turns to be true it only leaves Bolton Wanderers in the dark- the club will only be due development compensation and no transfer fee. Connell played 10 games in the Championship last season and made two appearances in the FA Cup with Bolton, who failed to convince him to sign a contract extension.
The player currently represents the under age-group teams of Ireland but is also eligible to play for England. Spurs have so far failed to register any interest in the defensive midfielder. A position where Tanguy NDombele is the priority right now.
