Luke Shaw hurt by Manchester United performance: Makes promise

Luke Shaw claims that he was hurt by Manchester United’s performance in the last season, despite winning the player of the year award.

Th 24-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented left back in the country, however, continuous injury problems and fitness issues have restricted the Englishman from reaching his full potential.

The Red Devils had a poor Premier League campaign last season where Solskjaer’s side ended up finishing in the sixth position with Luke Shaw collecting the player of the season award .

However, the Englishman admits that none of the players deserved the award, owing to the team’s performance:

“From a personal point of view, it was a better season than I have had for a while but I still think I can do much better,” he said.

“I didn’t really feel like anyone deserved the player-of-the-year award because of the season we had as a team.

“There is more to come from me and everyone needs to be better because last season was somewhere near embarrassing.”

While Manchester United ended up finishing in the 6th position in the League with no trophies, our rivals were contesting in the Europa League and Champions League finals or sweeping up the domestic silverwares:

“We were all very disappointed,” he continued.

“It hurt even more that there were so many English teams around us who were playing in finals and had done well while we were just on holiday.

“There was nothing we could do about it other than watch the games and think.

“Of course it hurt. We all felt it. We have a lot to prove this season and I am sure we will.

“We are going to have a much better season.”

Hopefully, Luke Shaw and co. can transform those words into actions and results on the pitch for Manchester United. If preseason was anything to go by, we have a lot of positives to look forward to!

Before his leg break Luke Shaw was the best left back in the country when United bought him they saw the potential. If he stays away from injuries he will be back there and in the England team. With the addition of Macguire and Wan Bissaka we now have a serious defence which can only be good for United.
