We have been hearing about Tanguy NDombele’s Spurs transfer for more than a month now. Tottenham need a particular type of player that Mauricio Pochettino has sorely missed as he had to play Eric Dier and Wanyama in midfield. Jean-Michel Aulas had put a transfer on hold until he secured a replacement for Lyon, which he has now.
Lyon President held NDombele’s Spurs transfer until a replacement was signed
In no unclear terms, the hard as a rock club president of Lyon told the press that they could only expect a sale after a replacement had arrived. If NDombele was to be sold to Tottenham then Lyon would need a replacement. The last few days gave a good indication of who it could be: Santos and Flamengo’s Jean Lucas. The box-to-box midfielder has finally arrived in France to give the green light to Tanguy NDombele’s transfer to Spurs.
Tottenham have another hurdle to clear before signing the midfielder
The arrival of a replacement is still no guarantee that the French midfielder will end up in London. Jean-Michel Aulas had gone so far as to propose a move to PSG, saying he preferred the France international stayed in France and that only PSG had the resources there to make an approach.
The Parisiens may prove to be big competition if they are genuinely interested in the player. But there’s has been nowhere near the noise about a PSG move for NDombele as it has been with Spurs. However, Pochettino still needs Levy to come to an agreement with the French side regarding the transfer fee. Lyon are adamant on a fee in the region of ☼o63 million. If Tottenham agree at this amount, it would eclipse the club’s transfer record. Good times are here! COYS!
