Harry Maguire should snub interest from Manchester United and join Premier League champions Man City says ESPN Pundit Craig Burley.
The Englishman has been heavily linked with an exit from the King Power Stadium this summer with both Manchester clubs interested in his services.
And Burley insists that it should be a no-brainer for Maguire to snub United and join Man City if ‘he’s got any brains’.
“Well Maguire will go to Man City if he’s got any brains and they want him, 100 per cent,” the former Chelsea star told ESPN FC.
“And I think Man City do want him because Kompany has gone, Otamendi is still there but he’s not going to play much, John Stones struggled.
“If I was Harry Maguire and I had the choice I would walk to Man City and play for them ahead over Man United, 100 per cent.
“Why wouldn’t you? From a footballing perspective.”
The only stumbling block in the transfer could prove to be the £80million asking fee Leicester are demanding from any potential suitors.
However, Burley says given the current inflation in today’s market, the fee is not too steep.
“You’re talking about Kyle Walker who was more than half that as a full-back,” Burley continued.
“You talk £75m-plus for Virgil van Dijk, who’s worth probably double that now.
“Look, I’m not saying he’s the best centre-half in Europe, the likes of [Kaildou] Koulibaly is a better defender, there’s no doubt about that.
“[But] how many people are prepared to play the way City play as a centre-half? Not many.
“He’ll come out with the ball, he’ll pass the ball, he’ll take it under pressure, he’s got a good physical presence, he’s played in a World Cup semi-final.
“It’s not his fault they want £80m for him.”
