Pep Guardiola and Manchester City won the Premier League by a solitary point. Liverpool were left licking their lips in anticipation ever since surrendering the lead they had on Christmas.

Liverpool were not without any recognition as both Sadio Mane and Salah finished as the Golden Boot winners. Alisson got the Golden Glove for his 21 clean sheets and the defence was the most solid in all of Premier League. However, City were so overcome with winning the league that they insulted Sean Cox in the process.

Pep Guardiola, unlike his players was gracious in victory as he swooped the League Manager’s Association PL Manager of the Season award. Voted for by the managers at clubs in the Premier League, Guardiola thanked all of them. He specifically name-checked one manager though: Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

Guardiola praised the German for the immense competition he provided to Manchester City, unlike any other Premier League club who were never in the discussion. Klopp took the title race with City to the very last day of the season. A worthy adversary always finds respect in the hearts of his opponents.

“I want to share it with my players because they are the artists, to my staff because we fought a lot and especially for the all the managers in the Premier League, especially Jurgen Klopp. He was an incredible contender to face until the end.

Chris Wilder of Sheffield United won the overall award given after voting by managers in all the tiers of English football. His award was due to Sheffield securing a promotion to the Premier League from the Championship. He was awarded the trophy by Sir Alex Ferguson. It would have been some scene if Ferguson had to give this award to Guardiola instead.

On from individual awards to the biggest trophy in all of Europe.
