Man United fans are celebrating the fact that the club will not make a move for Sean Longstaff according to the latest transfer report.

United were earlier said to be keeping an eye on the Newcastle midfielder as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer searched for younger, hungrier players for his team.

The Likes of Stoke City defender Nathan Collins and Swansea winger Daniel James have been massively linked with a transfer to Old Trafford in recent weeks with the latter believed to have agreed on personal terms with United.

Sean Longstaff is another young British star who was earlier reported to be on United’s books after a prolific breakout season under Rafa Benitez.

Despite making only nine appearances, the 21-year-old has garnered praises from the likes of Pep Guardiola and is compared with United legend Michael Carrick for his ability to control the game from deep-lying positions.

He was also touted as a replacement for the departing Ander Hererra, who has reportedly signed a four-year contract with Paris Saint Germain.

However, Craig Hope from the Daily Mail has downplayed all such rumours saying that United have made no advances for Longstaff yet.

“A small NUFC line away from ‘takeover’… I’m told there has not even been an enquiry from Man Utd for Sean Longstaff & certainly no bids. NUFC have no reason to believe one is due either. ” He wrote on Twitter.

This seems to have pleased the United fans who have had a hard time adjusting to the fact that a ‘newbie’ in footballing terms is their primary target.
