Tottenham have had a drawn out bidding process for Tanguy NDombele. Yet, it’s just as close now as it was a week ago but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been any new developments with the transfer. Manchester United want to match the bid which Spurs have worked on with Lyon. Spurs are ready to pay £64 million to Lyon to make the deal happen but what would NDombele do if United made the same bid.
Spurs near a £64 million agreement for Tanguy NDombele
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas wasn’t thrilled with Tottenham’s attempts to sign the 22 year old central midfielder. Even during the negotiations he was publically panning Tottenham for not agreeing to the fee he was demanding. An unprecedented fee for NDombele of £65 million from Tottenham.
In due time though, Tottenham have realized the need to wrap up the transfer because NDombele was attracting attention from the likes of PSG and Manchester United.
Man United may compete with Tottenham in the transfer market
Given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba who has been linked with Juventus and Real Madrid, Man United are keeping all options open. Which means going to the market for a top tier midfielder. NDombele is of that ilk and has interested Manchester United.
If Pogba leaves, United are ready to pay whatever Lyon demand for Tanguy Ndombele. Even as much as Tottenham have agreed to pay for him: £64 million. Should Tottenham fail to complete the deal for NDombele, they risk being outbid by the Red Devils. It’s in the team’s best interests that Spurs get this transfer over the line as soon as possible.
