Man United target Nicolas Pepe may be on the move out of Lille this summer, after the club admitted that they have received big offers for the player.
The highly-rated winger has been linked with English giants, Manchester United and Liverpool as well as European powerhouses, PSG and Bayern Munich over the last two transfer windows, but somehow, a move did not materialize.
However, Pepe’s agent, Samir Khiat claimed a few weeks ago that his client is going to sign for a big club before the end of the transfer window.
“Nicolas is open to everything,” Samir told L’Equipe. “The aim is to sign in the right place. PSG is a possibility.”
“Today, all parties need to reach an agreement. There are exchanges and discussions. He is wanted by a considerable number of clubs.
“For him, the most important thing is to be wanted and go to a good club where he will play and continue to progress.”
It appears the 24-year-old’s desire is set to be granted this summer with Lille president, Gerard Lopez admitting that the player’s transfer is “almost done.”
“Our work is done,” he said. “In terms of departures and arrivals, if a player leaves, we will go and get what we need.”
“For Nico [Pepe], it’s almost done, and he could have left last summer. It is true that there are big offers and big clubs in for him, so I think [he will leave].”
It is still unclear as to which team the Ivorian is set to join, but it has been suggested that Manchester United have submitted a bid of around £70m for the winger, a sum which is likely going to convince Lille to sell.
Pepe scored 22 goals in 28 appearances for Lille last season, a number only bettered by PSG’s Kylian Mbappe in the whole of France and is the most prolific winger the club has seen since the days of former Premier League star, Eden Hazard.
A player of Nicolas Pepe’s caliber would be a great addition to Ole’s side, which lay emphasis on young hungry players that can propel United back to glory.
