Brandon Williams is set to make his full Premier League debut against Bournemouth.
The Manchester United rookie has caught the eye in recent weeks and continued his rise to prominence by starring in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win at Chelsea.
Luke Shaw’s injury means the left-back slot is up for grabs, and Williams looks likely to get the nod from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He is set to feature in a four-man defence comprised of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, with David De Gea between the sticks.
Maguire and Lindelof are injury doubts for the match but should pass fitness tests.
Scott McTominay is becoming one of the first names on Solskjaer’s team-sheet and he should continue his record of starting every Premier League game this term.
Fred and Andreas Pereira should partner McTominay in the engine room.
Marcus Rashford is another injury concern after picking up a knock in the 2-1 win at Chelsea, in which he scored both goals.
The England international is expected to overcome the problem, however.
He and Daniel James are the best bets to support Anthony Martial in attack.
Martial has hit two goals in his last three games, and Solskjaer credits his improved form with a change in outlook.
“He looks happier,” the United boss said.
“He’s an infectious boy, his smile and sense of humour, you can see he’s happy here and that rubs off on everyone and it’s great to see.
“I don’t think he has had a long run of games as a No.9 since he played many years ago as a boy, and now he’s maturing, he’s 24.
“You have to be obsessed with scoring goals as a No.9 and he’s looking more and more like a player who wants to score goals and not just show his tricks.
“For me, he’s matured a lot in his behaviour on the training ground as well.
“I believe we’ll see the best of him in the next few years.”
Paul Pogba (ankle), Eric Bailly (knee), Axel Tuanzebe (hip), Luke Shaw (thigh), Diogo Dalot (groin) and Nemanja Matic (unspecified) will all miss out against Bournemouth.
