Manchester United are trying to get Atletico Madrid star on loan

Manchester United desperately tried to reinforce their midfield during the last summer transfer window, however, unfortunately, Solskjaer couldn’t do so.

Manchester United were left thin in the midfield department after the departure of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera and repeated injuries to the ones available haven’t helped either.

There is no denying that the Old Trafford club are in dire need for a midfielder or two to materialise any sort of comeback this season and if the latest reports are to be believed, the Red Devils are interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.

Manchester Evening News have reported that Manchester United are trying to get the Spanish international from Rojiblancos (who in fact paid £35million for the player to bring him in from Real Madrid last summer) on loan with an option to purchase.

The 24-year-Old is mainly a defensive midfielder and he was mostly warming the bench at the Bernabeu because Real Madrid have a world class holding midfield star in the form of Casemiro, who regularly starts for the European giants.

Unfortunately, Llorente has not been able to get regular game time with Atletico either under the management of Simeone. The Argentine boss has got ample quality and depth in the midfield with stars like Saul, Thomas Partey, Koke and Herrera around.

In such a situation, so far, the Spaniard has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Rojiblancos, however, he has only managed to start on 3 occasions. In total, he has only played for 368 minutes (Transfermarkt).

We do need a defensive midfielder because Serbian international Matic is past his best but in your view, should we try to temporary sign a play-breaker like Marcos Llorente, who has not played a lot of first-team football in the past couple of seasons?
