For Manchester United and their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, signing Harry Maguire during the summer hasn’t worked the way they thought it would be.
After paying the record transfer fee for the former Premier League winner from Leicester, the red devils were hoping to improve their defences this season, however, his performance has nothing but a disappointment.
Under these circumstances, it is not a surprise that Man Utd are ready to break the bank once again to sign their long-time transfer target and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to reinforce their defences yet again.
According to Lancslive, Manchester United are ready to smash their own transfer record with £140million to bring Kalidou Koulibaly to the Old Trafford.
No matter what the reported bid is, it is hard to please Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli president and a hard-nosed businessman. It’s being reported that United already had a £90million bid rejected by the Napoli, however, for a “correct” price, he can let Koulibaly go.
“I loved Koulibaly the man so I refused €105m, but a time will come when I’ll have to sell him. Whoever says we didn’t improve our defence is wrong.”
Koulibaly or not, Manchester United fans will definitely expect their top management to make some marquee signings during the next transfer window given their current situation.
