Manchester United have reportedly dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ruben Dias as Ole Gunnar Solskajer is forced to look for alternatives.
The Benfica Skipper was said to be high on Solskjaer’s priority list given his quality and age along with his release clause being on the cheaper side than most in the transfer market.

The Red Devils are prioritising a right back at the moment with Aaron Wan Bissaka at the focal point of their efforts but the team have suffered massively due to lack of a quality centre half.
Solskjaer is reportedly in the market for younger hungrier players brimming with potential and Dias perfectly fits the bill.
However, after the recent turn of events, it looks like the Norwegian will have to look elsewhere.
His parent club Benfica have set the wheels in motion to make him less affordable to any potential suitors.
The Primera Liga club are ready to offer him a new contract with a release clause ranging from €66m to €88m according to reports in Portugal.
This could be a telling blow to United’s interest the centre back as they would not be prepared to shell such an amount on a player who hasn’t proven himself in the Champions League.
Ed Woodward has reportedly promised Solskjaer a transfer kitty of around £100m this summer of which around £15m has already been spent on signing Daniel James.
So an expensive move for Dias can categorically be ruled out.
