Manchester United fans have been provided with a David De Gea contract extension update as he enters the last 12 months of his current deal.
The Spaniard last signed a deal with the club back in 2015 after the infamous ‘faxgate’ collapsed his move to Real Madrid.

De Gea has been the standout performer for the Red Devils in post-Alex Ferguson era and feels that his heroics should be rewarded with a bumper contract most notably similar to that of Alexis Sanchez.
However, Man United chief Ed Woodward has informed the Spanish international that the club won’t succumb to his demands.
Dwelving further into the matter, Journalist Duncan Castles provided an update on De Gea’s contract extension talks.
“De Gea feels he should have his contract terms improved to the sane level as Alexis Sanchez – he’s the best-paid player at Manchester United – as a reward for being the most consistent and best performer for Manchester United for numerous seasons,” he said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“He had been told by Ed Woodward that was not going to happen.
“Woodward was not happy to match the terms he’d agreed to pay to Alexis Sanchez to bring him from Arsenal in January 2018.”
He went on to add: “I’m told the situation has not been resolved, that negotiations are ongoing, that United have improved their offer.”
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a big admirer of De Gea.
When quizzed regarding the 28-year-old earlier this year, he replied: “David’s done fantastic since he came. The club really showed how much they wanted him back in the day when Eric [Steele] and the gaffer found him.
“There was probably ‘keepers there better at that time, but the belief the manager showed in him with the criticism he got paid dividends.
“He’s been player of the year I don’t know how many years, we’re grateful to have him.”
