Manchester United are in a desperate need of a world-class center-back who can partner Victor Lindelof in the defense for next season and beyond.
We have been linked to likes of Kalidou Koulibaly yet again, but it’s extremely unlikely that Ed Woodward would pay £100m for his services, but hey we have no problem paying £70m for Harry Maguire, do we?
There were previous reports of Leicester City demanding a fee upward of £85m for the 26-year-old with both the Manchester Clubs having shown interest in the colossal center-back.
However, Manchester City are unwilling to pay upwards of £60m for the Foxes star and now, as per the latest developments, Nicolas Otamendi is set to stay at the Etihad which only makes Maguire’s move to City even more difficult, thus clearing the path for Manchester United to go ahead with the deal.
Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, reportedly, won’t be pushing for a move away from the King Power Stadium, although he would welcome a big move to either of the Manchester Clubs.
Similarly, Leicester City would encourage a bidding war for their star defender as they would love to milk as much cash as they can for the 26-year-old center-back.
But, the big question here is obviously this one; Is Harry Maguire worth that kind of crazy money?
There’s no doubt that the big man is a good player who is brilliant in the air and is way ahead of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, but his overall play doesn’t qualify him to stand with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly’s of the world.
Still, it looks like the transfer might be happening after all as United are intent on buying him at all cost!
