Manchester United have made a £36m bid for Monaco Midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to the Belgian outlet DH.be and as quoted by Dailystar.
The 22-year-old joined Leicester City on loan from Monaco in the January of this year and made an instant impact for the Foxes with his impressive performances in the midfield.
The young Belgian star scored 3 bangers during his time at Leicester City but it was his brilliant and skillful performances in the middle of the park that earned him the rave reviews from fans, pundits and managers alike.
Tielemans has already talked about his desire to stay in the Premier League with the midfielder unwilling to return to parent club Monaco next season.
Now, as per the reports in Belgium, Leicester City are interested in turning Tielemans’ loan deal into a permanent one and have already made an opening bid of £36m for the midfielder.
Manchester United, who are themselves in need of an Ander Herrera and possibly Paul Pogba replacement, have matched that £36m bid from Leicester City and have offered better wages to the 22-year-old as compared to the Foxes.
Of course, United and Leicester aren’t the only 2 clubs to be interested in his signature with Tottenham also keeping a tab on him as a possible replacement to Christian Eriksen, while Manchester City eye him as a replacement to possibly departing Ilkay Gundogan.
With Paul Pogba having made his intentions clear that he would prefer “a new challenge somewhere else”, Manchester United would do well to sign at least one Central Midfielder who has proven himself to be good enough in the Premier League.
Still only 22, Youri Tielemans has got a high ceiling, and in a couple of years, he could turn out to be the world-class player that he certainly has the potential and talent to be.
