Ryan Giggs thinks Jack Grealish or James Maddison could easily replace Paul Pogba at Manchester United if the Frenchman decides to leave should he leave the club this summer.
Paul Pogba is reportedly not happy at Manchester United and would like to move away from Old Trafford this year after admitting he was looking for a ‘new challenge’ last summer.
Manchester United have maintained that they don’t plan on selling the midfielder, however, it hasn’t stopped the persistent speculation linking him with a future move away from the club.
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs says even though Pogba could still succeed at Man United, should he decide to leave there are two viable alternatives in Grealish and Maddison.
I don’t think he’s got the players,” Giggs told beIN SPORTS when asked about Solskjaer’s squad.
“He’s probably a couple of players short in actually changing that way of playing. You know, that No.10, that focal point, and also a midfielder.
“Whether Pogba is that, he’s been so inconsistent, obviously on his day he could be that player. But, they are missing a Grealish, a Maddison, a player like that really that could unlock the door.
“Because of the pace that we’ve got it suits the way that they play and also when you come up against good teams they like to dominate possession.”
United’s midfield was tested during their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Only Fred could produce a battling display in deeper midfield. Andreas Pereira wasn’t able to create much in his No.10 role and missed a great chance to level the scores just before half time.
Manchester United also reportedly pursuing Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes along with Grealish and Maddison.
