There have been news and reports of Manchester United being linked to the French Midfielder who will be out of contract in the next 10 days.
Technically still a PSG player, the 24-year-old entered a contract dispute with the French Champions at the end of the last year when he refused to sign a contract extension with his parent club.
In turn, PSG decided to throw him in a limbo, as they barred him to take park in any kind of first team activity while completely banning (dropping?) him from the first team squad.
So, of course, Rabiot waited patiently, running down his contract at the club, while earning his weekly wages at home chilling on his settee.
Now, with only a couple of weeks left on his contract, the Frenchman is set to become a free agent, meaning the 24-year-old would be free to sign a contract with any club in the world he desires (like what happened with Ander Herrera).
Manchester United board and Ed Woodward are completely aware of this situation and would be itching to get their hands on the midfielder and get even with PSG after the whole Herrera deal.
So, as per the reports, Manchester United have offered Rabiot a contract worth £7m per year which trumps what Juventus had offered the 24-year-old last week.
Adrien Rabiot and his agent will also be expecting a signing-on bonus, performance bonuses and the whole shebang that you get when you you sign as a free agent (think of Alexis Sanchez).
While a very good box to box midfielder, it should be imperative that Manchester United doesn’t overpay for Adrien Rabiot and find themselves in a similar situation to Alexis Sanchez.
