If reports are to be believed, Manchester United are going to sign Erling Braut Haaland this summer, and it’s highly likely that we will be trying to bring Jadon Sancho at the Old Trafford as well.
Haaland has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United, a move that will reunite him with his former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was his manager at Molde.
It’s also being claimed that Man Utd have reignited their interest in signing Sancho, however, both the deals are poised to happen during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell said:
I get the sense that Haaland is very much a possibility form United’s perspective from the way that Solskjaer has been when asked about him and the connection they had in the past at Molde.”
Whitwell went on to quash talk of United going back in for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic and discussed when the Haaland deal might go through.
I don’t think that that is actually now going to happen [Mandzukic], I think they’ve moved away from that.
They are looking at loans and low-cost deals, so I don’t know about the January window [for Haaland].
In terms of actually getting him, but they need to be doing something where they are getting the pieces in place at least where the button can be hit in the summer.”
Sancho has also been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund after shining in the Bundesliga since leaving Manchester City in 2017, and could become a huge signing for Solskjaer.
I think [the interest] is definite, last summer the mood was that it wasn’t the right time for him to go to a club in a bit of a state of flux, he wanted to see where the land lay and obviously he had a season ahead of him at Dortmund which was a lot more stable.
He’s definitely one United were after, I know Daniel James has come into the picture now and he has exceeded all exceptions but I feel they still need a right-winger that would fit into that system.
Jadon Sancho would fit the bill massively.”
David Ornstein also gave his thoughts on a possible deal for Haaland and revealed staff at the club’s training ground are confident it will be completed.
One person who works for another club and moves in these circles said to me that it’s an unkept secret, ‘everybody knows Anf-Inge Haaland has been seen and visited United’s Carrington training ground’.
A completely different person who is very well connected at Arsenal said to me that the guys at Carrington think that they are going to get Haaland, they are convinced that he is going to be coming into the club.”
