Manchester United are ready to offer David de Gea £20m to encourage him to sign for PSG, according to the latest reports.
David de Gea now enters the final year of his Manchester United contract as the contract stand-off between Ed Woodward and David de Gea’s entourage continues.
PSG has already shown massive interest in taking him off our hands in this summer transfer window after already parting ways with Gianluigi Buffon.
There have been rumours and suggestions that PSG are prepared to pay Manchester United anything between £60m – £75m for the services of the 28-year-old.
However, it has been claimed that David de Gea would rather look to stay and run down his deal and then sign with PSG on a free transfer in the summer as it will guarantee him more leverage on weekly wages (and added signing bonuses, kind of what Alexis Sanchez got with us).
Manchester United are obviously aware of the situation and hence, are prepared to offer him £20m, but only if the Spaniard agrees on a deal with PSG in the next couple of months.
Of course, Ed Woodward would still want PSG to offer anything between £60m – £75m for this deal to go through as Manchester United looks for his replacement.
But, with the suggestions that Manchester United are all set to part ways with David de Gea, it looks like the 28-year-old’s time with the Red Devils is finally up.
We have been linked to the likes of Ajax’s Andre Onana, who’s had a brilliant season with the Dutch Champions and Barcelona’s back-up goalkeeper Jasper Cillesen, who want regular playing time, as de Gea’s replacement.
Do you think either of those would be a good replacement signing for David de Gea? Or would you go for someone else?
