Manchester United could reportedly make a move for Wissam Ben Yedder as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku for the next season, as per caughtoffside.
Lukaku and his agent Federico Pastorello have already made their intentions clear about their love for Serie A, preferably Inter Milan, a number of times in the past couple of months.
While Inter Milan still haven’t met the asking price Manchester United are demanding for the Belgian, there are suggestions that negotiations are underway with the 25-year-old heart’s set on a move away from the Old Trafford in the summer.
Now on to Ben Yedder:
At 28 years of age, Wissam Ben Yedder would go against the new transfer policy implemented by Ole Gunnar Solskajer of only recruiting young and talented youngsters and molding them into ‘the Manchester United way.’
However, with Marcus Rashford the only recognized Striker in the Man United squad in the absence of Lukaku, it would be wrong to force all the responsibilities in the world to the young Rashford’s shoulders.
We probably need an experienced and proven Striker who can guide the Manchester United attack that consists of Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and the newly recruited Daniel James.
Ben Yedder had an impressive season with Sevilla last term where he scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 54 appearances in all competitions.
With a £36m release clause to his name, we certainly won’t be breaking the bank to sign the Frenchman, if we decide to go after him.
We have previously been linked to Lyon’s Moussa Dembele as a replacement for the outbound Lukaku. At 22 years of age, Dembele would probably tick all the boxes of Ole’s new transfer policy.
However, it could be a wise decision to go with a bit of experience upfront, especially in the Premier League, and Ben Yedder could just be the man for that.
