Manchester United will target Barcelona duo of Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic should Paul Pogba leave the club in the summer.
The Frenchman revealed in an interview yesterday that he was seeking a new ‘Challenge’ after three seasons at Old Trafford.
United are reluctant to let go of their star midfielder but they might be forced into a deal.
His agent Mino Raiola’s three-month suspension was overturned by FIFA meaning he is free to broker a deal for his star client.
The Red Devils have Pogba tied down for another three seasons and are expected to ask in the range of £130m should the Los Blancos come asking.
United have started their preparations for life after Pogba as they turn their attentions towards Barcelona duo of Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic.
Ander Hererra has already confirmed his departure from the club making the situation even more precarious for the club.
According to Spanish Publication Mundo Deportivo, United have set the wheels in motion to secure the services of Coutinho and Rakitic.
Barcelona are looking to part ways with Rakitic (31) to raise funds for their summer targets and could be an ideal short term fix for United.
In order to provide the creative zest to the midfield, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly touting Coutinho to fill that void.
The Brazilian has endured an underwhelming spell at the Camp Nou since his £142m move in January 2018.
Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint Germain are also interested in the Brazilian and are better suited to rival United for his services.
Even at this moment in time, United want to keep hold of Pogba but it might prove to be a mountain too high to climb for the Red Devils.
“For me I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great,” the former Juventus star said.
“Some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.
“After everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
