Manchester United loan star James Wilson should be given a new deal at Manchester United according to former defender Clayton Blackmore.
James Wilson burst onto the scene at Manchester United when he scored twice on his debut against Hull City in the end of 2013-14 Premier League season.
Further goals against QPR and Cambridge United meant that there was a certain buzz around the Striker who was destined to break into our first team.
But the arrival of Louis Van Gaal meant that the youngster had to move away on loan to Brighton, Derby and Sheffield United in the following seasons where he could manage just 6 goals in 40 appearances.
Currently on loan at Aberdeen, the 23-year-old just scored the winner in his final game of the season to ensure the 4th place finish for his side.
With just 4 goals in 33 appearances (out of which only 13 starts), it is very unlikely that Manchester United would extend Wilson’s contract deal which expires at the end of this season.
It is highly likely that the Englishman would be released by Manchester United, however, according to Clayton Blackmore, James Wilson deserves another chance at the Old Trafford.
Congratulations James Wilson scored for Aberdeen two assists last game maybe Man Utd should give you a chance, when Van Gal was in charge the system he played wasn’t good for strikers or no 10 players no passes or crosses. If you get the ball to Wilson he will do the rest. 👍🏼😁

Manchester United fans, meanwhile, are not very open to this idea and they would rather want the rising star Mason Greenwood to take his opportunities:
He has been on the bench for Aberdeen most of the season and you expect him to do the business for utd .?

I watched him closely at Aberdeen… IMO nowhere good enough I’m afraid to make any impact at United and certainly would be well down the pecking order given the emergence of Greenwood

Was prolific coming through the ranks. Injuries ruined his chances and since has been farmed out on loan. He is a goalscorer though and still wish him all the best.

Have any of these so called Utd academy players in recent years gone on to be excellent strikers. 🤔.
Nope thought not Clayton 🙄

He needs to find a decent League One or League two team this summer and be a regular. If he does well then he’ll work his way up the leagues again!

Do you think we should offer more opportunities to James Wilson? Or we are better off with trusting the likes of Mason Greenwood?
In other loan news, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has approved Dean Henderson’s Premier League loan move.
