Marco Silva has shed some lights on what is going on behind the scenes at Everton after Jordan Pickford was involved in a brawl during a night out.
The media and critics have been calling for Pickford’s head without realizing what went on during the brawl and Marco Silva has now explained the situation.
“We have a disciplinary process inside the club, not just for Jordan but for all the players and they know what the rules are. Everything was clear to them from the first moment they join our club. And everything was so easy to decide then.
“Did he apologise? If you want to use these words, why not! When I say to you it is something internal it is something to remain inside, it is not important to use the words if he is disciplined or if he apologised.
“But OK you can expect everything that he said because he is a professional player and can accept everything that has happened.”
The manager is also sure that Pickford won’t repeat the mistake ever again as he understands the responsibilities of a sportsman and a role model:
“It is already done, happened, it is finished and it is a big one not to happen again. It my expectation it won’t happen again with Jordan, for sure,” Silva added. “I don’t have doubts, the club don’t have doubts, Jordan doesn’t have doubts about the situation. But I will repeat to you because we want to be clear also: no one was happy with the situation and the club is clear also.
“For me his responsibilities are clear, not just because he’s a national team number one and our goalkeeper. From the moment you are a professional football player, you have that responsibility – you have only one way. You have to follow this way. It is so easy, you have duties, you have obligations. That’s it.”
