Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes if Marcus Rashford would have played along with Eric Cantona, he would have been a dream partner for the Frenchman.
Giggs made a club record 926 appearances for Manchester United after debuting as a 17-year-old in 1991. Rashford was also just 18 when he started his first-team career for the Red Devils vs Midtjylland in the Europa League.
In a chat between the two players for B/R Football, Rashford asked Giggs what it was like being called up to the first team with senior players.
He was just different,” Giggs explained.
“You see him there, look how big he is. People don’t realise how big and strong he was. He was like a target man but also he had them little touches.”
Giggs went on to add how Rashford’s pace would have been a perfect complement to Cantona’s distribution.
“For you he would have been a dream,” Giggs continued.
“Because you know when you make those runs, he would always find you, and you wouldn’t have to break stride. You know sometimes in a game, you make runs, you make runs, but no-one’s finding you? As soon as he got the ball, he wasn’t interested in scoring – he wanted to score – but he got as much pleasure out of making assists. He was brilliant to play with.”
