Manchester United have informed Matteo Darmian that he can leave in this transfer window after completing the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka completed his £50m Manchester United transfer on Saturday after weeks of negotiations between Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
The 21-year-old right-back had a fantastic last season with the Eagles and he’s expected to start for the Red Devils next season as Diogo Dalot also competes for minutes.
However, the transfer of Wan-Bissaka has led to the end of the road for at least one Manchester United player, namely, Matteo Darmian.
The 29-year-old had a great start to his Man United career under Louis Van Gaal when he made 39 appearances for us in the 2015-16 season.
Since then, the fullback has managed just 53 appearances in the last 3 seasons, including a paltry 6 Premier League appearances in the last campaign.
It’s safe to say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t consider Darmian a vital cog in his wheels and the signing of Wan-Bissaka has just put the last nail in the coffin for the 29-year-old.
However, the good news for the Matteo Darmian is that he’s still presumably highly rated in Italy, as Inter Milan, Roma and Lazio have shown interest in taking him off our hands.
While, we may not be able to cover our losses on the Italian, we could still get a decent fee for the former Torino man unlike Marcos Rojo, for whom we are ‘reportedly’ ready to listen to the offers.
It’s pretty safe to say that Marcos Rojo doesn’t have a future at the Old Trafford after managing to spend most of his time, either on the injury table or in referee’s card on the pitch during his time here.
With United ‘reportedly’ set to spend the cash on a world-class partner for Victor Lindelof, Rojo’s time at Old Trafford is up. Now, if someone could only be willing enough to take him off our hands…
