Manchester United are ‘considering’ a late push for Matthijs de Ligt as the Man Utd board looks to hijack Juventus’ deal for the Dutch star.
We spent the last couple of months speculating about Matthijs de Ligt’s next destination with the Red Devils rumored to be one of the clubs interested in the services of the defender.
However, it was reported that the 19-year-old had agreed a deal with the Serie A Champions Juventus, after holding positive talks with manager Maurizio Sarri over his role in the team.
The 19-year-old is one of the most sought after players in the world football right now and Juventus had apparently completed his transfer to put an end to all the speculations, but did they?
While, it’s being reported that the Dutch star has agreed on personal terms with the Turin club, no official announcements have been made over the deal. The Reason? Both Ajax and Juventus are still haggling on the transfer fee.
It wasn’t long ago that Barcelona had agreed on a transfer fee with Ajax over de Ligt transfer, but the 19-year-old rejected a move to the Spanish club.
Manchester United, meanwhile, were ready to offer him better terms financially, but apparently, the lack of Champions League football was the issue.
However, with the recent haggling over the transfer fee between Ajax and Juventus, Manchester United are considering to swoop in with even better terms financially in a hope to sway de Ligt’s mind.
Of course, we aren’t the only club in line. PSG and Barcelona are still interested in the services of the teenager who will turn 20 in August and they would look to hijack the deal too, if there’s any chance of doing so.
With Manchester United still unable to sort out the CB issue, de Ligt looks like a viable option and a statement signing, but ultimately, he might prove to be too difficult to bring to Old Trafford.
