Manchester United are on the brink of completing the deal for Dutch Centre-Back Matthijs de Ligt, according to the latest reports published in Marca.
Matthijs de Ligt has been a long time target for Barcelona and the Dutch Star almost completed his move to the Catalan Club after reportedly rejecting Manchester United, but things have changed massively in the last few weeks.
The 19-year-old teenager is the most sought after player in the world football right now. The young Dutch Captained an inexperienced Ajax side and took them to the Champions League semi-final forcing the Footballing world to take notice.
de Ligt’s team-mate Frenkie de-Jong had already agreed on a pre-deal with Barcelona in the January of 2019 and it was assumed that the young defender would follow his team-mate to the Catalan side, regardless of interest from Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
However, the Red Devils are in a desperate need of a world class centre-back who can slot in beside Victor Lindelof, and who better to do so than Matthijs de Ligt.
According to the Metro, Ed Woodward is ready to offer the 19-year-world a massive salary worth £350,000 a week, which would be a world record money for a teenager.
However, if Sky Sports sources are to believed, Manchester United’s move for Matthijs de Ligt has fallen through after the Red Devils have withdraw their interest from the player.
