Maurizio Sarri hinted that the English Duo of Ruben Loftus Cheek and Callum Hudson Odoi are not automatic starters despite their impressive displays against Brighton.
When asked if he would start Hudson-Odoi against West Ham, Sarri Said:
“I don’t know. I have to decide who is going to play against West Ham and who is going to play against Slavia.”
The Italian had a more elaborate answer when quizzed if Loftus Cheek had improved enough to cement a place in Chelsea’s starting XI:
“Yes, a lot. Especially tactically. Now he is tactically a very good midfielder. At the beginning of the season, he was a very offensive midfielder. Now he is complete, I think.”
Providing an update on the midfielder’s fitness, Sarri added :
“Maybe, but we need to check every day the condition of his back. This morning, he had only a recovery session because he needs time to recover after a match. The problem in this moment is only that, probably, he’s not able to play for 90 minutes.”
