Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has believes that Eden Hazard was overlooked for the PFA team of the year because of his team’s struggles.
The charismatic Belgian has enjoyed his best ever Premier League season scoring 16 goals and setting up 13 more but was snubbed in favour of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Sarri believes that their teams’ respective league standings had a big say on the proceedings.
“I think that Eden deserved to be in the top XI of the Premier League,” Sarri insisted. “But I think, also, that at the moment the table is clear. There is City, there is Liverpool, and then the other teams. And so I think the vote was influenced by the table.”
