Juventus star Adrien Rabiot is reported to be the top-most transfer priority for the new Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, this winter. The player is currently out of favour in Turin under Maurizio Sarri and Arteta believes his midfield is one area that needs reinforcements the most.
According to The Times, Arteta wants to sign Rabiot on loan with an option to buy in future and make him his first signing after taking over as boss at Arsenal.
The Gunners tried to sign him from Paris Saint-Germain last summer as well but were unable to do so, but they will be hoping to turn things around this season.
Rabiot has only featured in nine Serie A matches this season and is not popular with Maurizio Sarri.
For that reason, he would be open to leaving the club in January and given that Arsenal were potential suitors when he left PSG, it’s surely an attractive proposition.
One player that fans might think Rabiot could replace is Granit Xhaka.
However it now looks like Arteta’s arrival could hand Xhaka the chance for a clean slate at the club, despite being stripped of the captaincy earlier this season.
