Transfer expert Duncan Castles has claimed that Moussa Dembele is a Manchester United fan and would rather sign for the Red Devils despite Chelsea being the front runners in the race to sign the forward from Lyon.
Various reports have linked Lyon striker Dembele with a move away from Lyon during January and Express Sport claim that both Manchester United and Chelsea are in contention for the former Fulham and Celtic man.
Castles admits there is a chance Dembele might finally join Chelsea instead as he believes it to be in a better position to qualify for the Champions League, however, the 23-year-old forward is known to be a huge Man United fan and the club has been watching his progress for several years.
Castles claims Dembele now wants United to act on that interest and attempt to sign him.
I think as a sporting project at present it’s easy to argue that Chelsea is the better place to go,” Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“I know that Dembele likes Manchester United a lot.
“It’s a club that he has been interested in and kind of been hoping that United would crystallise an interest in him as a player that’s very long-standing.
“Dembele, because he broke onto the scene with Fulham at such a young age, has been monitored by these top clubs for multiple years.
“He’s been scouted and his progress has been watched.
“It’s kind of an object lesson in how the clubs operate and the scouts’ recruitment staff get in touch with the representatives of these players that they are interested in him and kind of build the relationship to put the idea in the head and say to them ‘Look, be patient, there’s a time we will move for you if your progress continues in the way that he want it to continue’.”
Do you think Moussa Dembele will be a good addition to the squad?
