Jordan Henderson has been usually deployed in a holding midfield role this season. However, recently he has shone in a more advanced position.
Excelling as the more advanced midfielder in the midfield, Henderson is scoring and assisting for his team-mates. Giving much joy to his manager and fans alike.
After being held back by his defensive duties as the water-carrier from defence to midfield. Henderson must have asked for more freedom to Klopp. However, it’s not just Klopp who is happy that Henderson has found his edge in midfield.
Gary Neville thinks it was the Hallelujah moment for Klopp when Henderson was promoted forward in the midfield.
“I said this for two or three years, why is he playing deeper? Why is Jordan Henderson going and getting the ball off his back four. I don’t get it. I’ve never got it having worked with him, having watched him, like him. I’ve never got it,”
“So this conversation that he had with Jurgen Klopp where he said, ‘I want to play further forward again’, it’s sort of like Hallelujah.
“I think he’s one of the very best that we have in this country at backing up play, sniffing out the second ball, making sure he’s in and around the area where it matters.”
