Nabil Fekir was on the verge of joining Liverpool in the last summer window, until his move fell through. Some people say that Liverpool didn’t want to pay the money Lyon were asking, some put it on his injured knee. Still others, blamed the agent.
The agent now, is duly fired. Jean-Pierre Bernes has been terminated as the agent of Lyon attacker Fekir. The news has been revealed directly by Pierre Bernes himself.
The reason for the split isn’t known at the moment but rest assured that Liverpool are somehow involved. Bernes confirms that Fekir is now on the lookout for a new agent, and in all likelihood a new club.
“I terminated the contract on (Thursday).
“It was a choice (Fekir) took. He will certainly look for another agent.
“Like all human relationships, from time to time you can have a difference of opinion on someone’s future or their behaviour.”
“To get into one of the top 10 clubs is very difficult, you must have an approach.
“You must not place too much importance on the role of an agent. When you have a big player and a big club wants him, it is the club who come to see you. You are not soliciting interest.”
