Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has drawn up a three-man shortlist that includes Christian Eriksen, as a replacement for Paul Pogba.
Paul Pogba’s future at the Old Trafford is still in the limbo after the Frenchman gave the controversial interview in Japan about wanting a new challenge. If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, here’s what he said:
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well … I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.
“I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
While Ed Woodward would prefer to keep the 26-year-old at the Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be open to the idea of letting him go next season if the right offer arrives.
Still, with all his flaws (and there are a lot of them), the midfielder does provide us with a few moments of magic, and so, if we do decide to offload him, we would need an able replacement for the 26-year-old world-cup winner.
As it turns out, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already drawn up a 3-man list to replace the world-cup winner.
The first name on the list is that of Christian Eriksen!
The Spurs man has just a year left on his contract and is unwilling to sign a contract extension, meaning, Tottenham could be open to offloading him if the right offer arrives to their table.
A brilliant player in his own right, Eriksen could seamlessly fill the Pogba sized hole in our midfield minus the controversies!
The second name in the list is that of James Maddison. The Leicester City star scored and assisted 7 each in his debut season with the Foxes which caught the eyes of the fans.
However, the 22-year-old has the technique and mentality beyond his years and is set to become one of the first name in the Three Lions team-sheet in the next few years, according to various Pundits.
Young, English and homegrown, Maddison also ticks all the boxes of the new transfer strategy implemented by the United board.
While, Maddison could be an excellent option, he will cost around 80-100 Million Pounds as the Foxes have no intention to sell their talisman who still has 4 years left on his contract.
The third name in the list is that of Youri Tielemans. While, United’s interest in Tielemans has cooled down in the last few weeks, they still see him as an option C to replace the Frenchman, if push comes to shove.
Beside these names, United have Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff as their primary target who are supposed to be an addition alongside Pogba, instead of replacing the Frenchman.
Hopefully, Aaron-Wan Bissaka deal would be officially announced tonight as we move on to our next targets!
