Manchester United players were ‘shocked’ after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to take Paul Pogba off the penalty duties, as per the latest reports.
Manchester United made a bright start to their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 humiliation of Chelsea. While Paul Pogba was in the thick of things at the Old Trafford with an assured performance in the midfield, it was Marcus Rashford who scored a brace, including a penalty against Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, the euphoria of the 4-0 win against Chelsea was short-lived as the Red Devils, yet again, failed to register a win against the Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.
While it was Paul Pogba who was fouled inside the box against Wolves, Marcus Rashford offered (?) the penalty to the Frenchman and the midfielder’s spot-kick was duly saved by Rui Patricio.
Now as per the latest reports, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t cut a happy figure in the dressing room, in fact, the Norwegian was so furious that he berated Paul Pogba in front of the whole squad and told him not to take any more penalties which stunned the United players.
Reports now claim that some of the Manchester United players are now ‘shocked’ and ‘concerned’ as to how the 26-year-old will react after the Frenchman exclusively revealed of his desire to leave the Old Trafford in search of a ‘new challenge somewhere else’.
Although, the thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the reports involving Manchester United are exaggerated after a negative result, and while there’s no doubt that Solskjaer would have given a piece of his mind to the midfielder (and he should after that miss which cost us 2 points!), this is what a manager is supposed to do.
Of course, the players will be ‘shocked’ and ‘concerned’ when they see a senior figure like Pogba getting the hairdryer treatment, but hey, no one is bigger than the club!
As for the penalty duties, let Marcus Rashford take care of that, please?
