Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised young Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams for his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round.
The young left-back who has just turned 19 had a difficult challenge on his hands to contain an in-form Adama Traore and he didn’t let his team down as the Traore couldn’t take a single shot on target.
Williams almost won a penalty for Manchester United in the opposition half as well after an apparent foul in the box by Leander Dendoncker.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer was pleased with the overall showing of the teenager, who has been competing with Luke Shaw for a role on the left side of the backline.
He’s not giving me headaches, he’s giving me a nice decision to make. Brandon plays against one of the quickest, strongest wingers in the Premier League, the one with the most dribbles in the league, and he did fantastic. He’s just improving day by day,” he told BT Sport via Metro.
A number of United fans have called for Williams to be promoted as the first-choice left-back and the youngster is certainly showing progress and putting the pressure on Shaw.
